Position Overview

The Distribution Center (DC) Manager has direct accountability for the staff at the DC and for achieving all weekly/monthly/annual objectives both financial and business. This includes documenting and constantly improving all processing for all aspects of the DC including Receiving, product prep and storage, order packing, and shipping orders for the e-commerce store, for our Raider Image Stores and for Raider Special Events. This position will be a combination of performing tasks ‘on floor’ on a regular basis to both lead and learn, and examining data to review to improve processes and plan for the future. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to maximize expense management and profitability, while developing talent to sustain growth and growing the brand perception. 

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Manage the effective movement of receiving, packing, and shipping merchandise; minimizing handling and downtime.

  • Communicate and give regular feedback to warehouse team in areas such as: objectives, policies, procedures, safety methods and production goals.

  • Accountable for being present during previously negotiated team work hours to ensure that the team has guidance, and that the business objectives are met.

  • Train, coach, mentor and develop leads by effectively utilizing them for the Receiving, Packing and shipping functions while providing career development opportunities; conduct performance reviews.

  • Lead the implementation and use of a WMS system to manage key aspects of product flow within the Distribution Center.

  • Manages the daily/weekly game plan working with the two Inventory Management roles and the Operations Manager to ship product, fixtures, and signs and provide flexibility for Special Projects.

  • Accountable for the physical side of the Return and Damage process working with Finance and Customer Service.

  • Manage expenses incurred during the regular operation of the DC as it pertains to planning, forecasting and monitoring those spends; manage and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • In partnership with Human Resources, plan, monitor and execute staffing and adjust as needed to ensure proper staffing levels that support operational demands and business financial objectives as provided by the VP and Sr. Director.

  • Partner with the VP and Sr. Director to improve DC standards and procedures utilizing opportunities identified during the previous year that can and should be improved.

  • Responsible for DC’s Inventory from cycle counts to annual Physical Inventory and work with Inventory group as needed.

  • Create, oversee and execute a ‘Business Continuation’ game plan in case of emergency.

  • Monitor warehouse team and associated activities ‘on-the-floor’ a minimum of four hours a day in an effort to ‘lead by example’ and understand areas to improve while offering assistance to employees with concerns or problems on the work floor.

  • Assist in managing emergency requests for all departments within the Raiders organization.

  • Improve DC receiving and quality control procedures by performing a once-a-year visit to least four store locations to gather feedback from managers and observe receiving practices.

  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with other supervisors, corporate and employees.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements  

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of DC management experience.

  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Skillful communicator who delivers clear and effective verbal and written messages.
  • Two years’ experience working with a WMS system.
  • Strong facilitation and negotiating skills.
  • Organization, attention to detail and customer-service oriented.
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task on a daily basis. 
  • Proven track record in the supervision of others, conflict resolution, and building effective teams.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment and make sound decisions that will have a financial impact on the company.
  • Team player with independent initiative.
  • Thorough and analytical attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals.
  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.

  • Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.

  • Exceptional work ethic, personal accountability, and strong time management skills.

  • Fork lift and order picker certified preferred.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

  • Must be flexible regarding work hours including, nights, weekends, and holidays.
